World Superbike - Round 11 Superpole

Today's superpole session for tomorrow's front row start in the World Superbike races in Imola, Italy sees Troy Bayliss (Ducati) on pole with James Toseland (Honda) in second, Andrew Pitt (Yamaha) third and Tory Corser (Suzuki) forth.

Troy Bayliss set a blistering lap of 1 minute 48.804 seconds for tomorrow's Italian Round. The 37 year-old Australian, only sixth after the two qualifying sessions, knocked more than a second off his performance to take his fifth Superpole of the year and the twelfth in his career, outrunning second-placed James Toseland by almost six-tenths of a second.

World Supersport

Kevin Curtain secured a vital front row start for tomorrow's 11th round of the Supersport World Championship in Imola. The Yamaha Motor Germany rider set a best time of 1:53.512 around the Italian circuit to grab fourth place on the grid for the 21-lap race.

Getting on the front row was the main priority for the Australian YZF-R6 rider, who will become world champion if he beats Sebastien Charpentier (Honda) in tomorrow's race. Charpentier starts the race from pole position, with fellow Honda riders Kenan Sofuoglu and Katsuaki Fujiwara joining him on the front row.
